It all started with Anton Chekhov. Keeping a clipping file of long-dead attractive guys was a bit unusual, yes, but it kept me amused. I explored this pastime first in a blog post, and then a book proposal, Dead Sexy: The Hottest Dead Men of History, which I wrote and designed.

We researched, wrote and designed The Handy Book of Artistic Printing about the nineteenth-century printing style. When it was published, the international revival of interest in ornament, lettering, and letterpress printing was developing, and our timing was good. It was one of the first books to analyze this style.
